Dear Members,
It’s been a productive and exciting summer and early fall at the Chicago Automobile Trade Association. This time of year offers the perfect opportunity to pause and reflect on the impactful work we’ve accomplished together to support our dealer and allied members, advance awareness of electric and hybrid vehicles through Chicago Drives Electric, and generate significant funds for the USO, all while promoting the goodwill and community spirit of Chicagoland’s new-car dealers.
Last month, we concluded the fourth annual Chicago Drives Electric event, hosted at our neighboring partner’s facilities, ComEd. Since its debut in 2022, this program has continued to grow in size and influence, educating consumers about the benefits of electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, along with how these technologies fit individual needs and lifestyles. This year’s event featured more brands and manufacturers than ever before, with 44 different models for attendees to test drive from 16 different manufacturers. Expert product specialists were on hand to answer questions and guide attendees through the evolving EV landscape.
In total, 855 drivers participated, logging more than 4,546 in-vehicle experiences (test driving or riding along as a passenger). We look forward to carrying the Chicago Drives Electric theme and ride-along experience into the 2026 Chicago Auto Show, continuing our mission to inform and inspire attendees.
In partnership with the USO, this summer also marked the 12th annual Drive for the Troops campaign, where more than 80 new-car dealerships across the Chicagoland area came together to host community-focused fundraising events and activities. From car shows to classic summer barbecues to online fundraising activities, the campaign ignited strong community engagement and underscored the vital role of the USO in supporting those who serve.
We’re also hard at work in Springfield, advocating for our dealers and pushing for an increase to the DOC Fee. Our team has built a strong case and will keep up the effort until we reach the desired outcome.
With winter on the way, our focus now shifts to preparations for the 2026 Chicago Auto Show and First Look for Charity gala, returning this February. The Auto Show is shaping up to be another outstanding event at McCormick Place, with First Look for Charity scheduled for Friday, Feb. 6, and the public show running Feb. 7-16, 2026.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement. The strength of our association lies in the dedication of our members, and together, we’ll continue driving success into the next quarter and beyond.
With appreciation,
Jennifer Morand
President, Chicago Automobile Trade Association
General Manager, Chicago Auto Show
