Find Union-Trained Student Technicians on the CATA Website

Find Union-Trained Student Technicians on the CATA Website; Two mechanics in a bright auto repair shop, standing confidently. One has braided hair and tattoos, the other with short hair. Blue car in the background.

CATA members now have exclusive access to a new resource on the CATA website: the Local 701 technician resume portal. This new addition features resumes from students currently enrolled in the IAM Local 701 technician training school.

These students are eager to gain hands-on experience and employment in dealership service departments while attending classes one day per week. Their flexible schedules align with the terms of your existing collective bargaining agreement (CBA), making them well-suited for part-time or CBA-compliant roles such as apprentice, skilled or lube technician positions, based on the level of learning they have attained at the union’s technician school.

What You’ll Find

  • Resumes organized by name and city, making it easy to identify local candidates.
  • Diesel trainee designations, allowing you to quickly locate students with diesel repair training.
    • The diesel designation should not preclude a student from working as a general technician; it simply denotes that they have some diesel training.
  • CBA-compliant employment, available only to dealerships operating under an IAM Local 701 agreement.

This is a valuable opportunity to bring in talented students enrolled in the Local 701 union’s training school. To facilitate consistent scheduling and ease of commute, consider recruiting candidates who live near your dealership.

CATA members can access the new resume portal by visiting the member area at CATA.info.
